Calla
 
i propped up the calla lily
by the weight of its own
 
                branches
 
claret & golden
like butter
                      melting slowly
boldly
 
just an arch
upon the wind
 
 
 
Cardinal
 
as a cardinal chirps
in the sway of evergreen
                                            above me
i ponder crystal burgundy
 
the mower hums
the basketball kisses concrete
rubber mars asphalt
 
..and love is never far behind
